Update from the City of Sugar Land regarding Flood Insurance Discount
“The City of Sugar Land has been working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to correct the city limits of Sugar Land to incorporate annexed areas from Fort Bend County. This change was applied by FEMA in January 2024 and affects policies issued beginning October 2023, applying the City’s Community Rating System (CRS) Class 6 discount to policies in the areas of Greatwood and Riverpark, inside the City limits. These policies will have the City’s community number (CID) applied to existing and future policies, which will provide a 20% discount to the affected areas. Residents in the affected areas should receive the difference in their existing policy premium as a refund once they are processed by FEMA. Any new policies should insure they have the City’s CID on their policy to receive the CRS discount of 20%. The City’s CID number is 480234. Please contact your flood insurance agent with any questions related to the impacts of this update to your flood insurance policy. Additional information for the change can be found here.”
