Fort Bend County Levee Improvement District 11

The District has received several inquiries regarding the replacement of fencing along the levee.

Certain sections of existing white tube steel fences were removed as part of the levee raising project. The levee raising resulted in changes to the fencing angles and connections.

When deciding on the type of replacement fencing, the Board considered the cost of fabricating new tube steel fencing, as well as maintaining the existing tube steel fencing. Based on the cost difference, the Board elected to install corral style fencing. The corral style fencing will be painted dark green and the project, including the installation of gates, is expected to be completed by February 1, 2021.

As part of the project, we are looking at whether new fencing at certain locations is appropriate.

FBCLID 11 has recently issued the Notice to Proceed for the expansion of the District Pump Station No. 2 located at 1926 ½ Boulder Oaks Lane. This expansion will increase the station’s pumping capacity, allowing the district to protect residents from more severe rainfall events. Over the next several months, residents in the area should expect an increase in construction traffic as well as noise while the station is under construction. The District apologizes in advance for the inconvenience this may cause. In addition, we have stressed with the contractor the need to be mindful of adjacent homeowners. They have been instructed that no construction shall take place outside of the City’s allowable working hours of 7:00 am to 7:00 pm in addition to keeping the streets clean and roadways clear. FBCLID 11 is excited to announce that the District recently completed construction on a project that has raised the height of the levee. The levee, which was raised by approximately 2 feet, is now 6 feet above the current 100-year flood elevation of the Brazos River. This exceeds all federal and local regulations and makes it one of the safest levees in Fort Bend County. As part of the project, the District made one of the detention ponds deeper, which increases the volume for storing rain water inside the levee.

The District is continuing to improve the levee and drainage system in several ways. Current projects include completing a third pump station to serve the District as well as significantly increasing the pumping capacity of the two existing pump stations.
